A Great Season in Store for Idaho Whitewater Rafting
April 14, 2009.Curt Chang, O.A.R.S. Idaho Regional Manager and original Grand Canyon Dories guide, gave us this recent report about current state of Idaho whitewater rafting …
Beautiful days with warm temperatures have got us all smiling here. Fortunately, there hasn’t been much heat so the rivers are showing a gradual rise, which means an extended spring season – a good thing. The snow pack is holding up well and the surrounding hills are full-swing green.
He also sent us photos of three of his crew, stating, Here are three Idaho guides O.A.R.S. guests would be fortunate to share a trip with: Kaisha Schmelzle, Zak Sears and Barry Dow.
Kaisha has done quite a lot of traveling and loves to cook. She is great with children and has a wonderful sense of humor. Zak is the youngest member of the Sears family of guides and is following in his father’s footsteps. A very talented musician and whitewater kayaker, Zak too loves to show our clients a great time and is one of our expert dory guides.
Barry Dow is one our most senior staff here in Idaho. A winter resident of McCall, Idaho, Barry loves to fish and hike, and he is our resident expert on the Main Salmon River. We consider him a dory boatman extraordinaire.
We look forward to seeing new adventurers and returning O.A.R.S. guests in Idaho this year.

-- Carrie AronsonCome and join us on the Main, Middle Fork or Lower Salmon Rivers – or the Snake River/Hells Canyon. They are all incredible. The hardest part is making the decision as to which one?
