O.A.R.S. Staff South Fork American Whitewater Rafting Party
September 17, 2007.
Nothing like letting off a little steam at the end of the busy season. It was another glorious day on the South Fork. No matter where you’ve been in the world, no matter how many rivers you have run – the South Fork of the American River always brings extreme joy.

We had six boats of staff members, family and friends – some of whom had never been in a raft before. There were only a couple of involuntary swimmers the entire day… but you’ll have to ask our California Adventure Consultant – TYRA - about the details. She’s not only one of the most animated office members, but also a river guide extraordinaire… most of the time.

Are there bathrooms on a river trip?
September 11, 2007.
O.A.R.S.’ adventure consultants are routinely asked: What is the bathroom situation on a river? Will there be a private place each day to ‘take care of business’?

August 21, 2007.
O.A.R.S. is committed to being a leader in the field of
sustainable travel. Our goal isn’t simply to be one of the most environmentally responsible tour operators in the world, but to continually raise the bar and challenge other companies to raise their standards as well. From escorting congressional staffers, eco-celebrities and politicians on the waterways of the Western U.S. to establishing a model business for ecotourism operators in Fiji, O.A.R.S. is professionally committed to the cultural and environmental well-being of the places we visit.

On The WaterFront…
July 26, 2007.
Peak water flows are dropping, but there is still
plenty of whitewater for last-minute summer fun.
Because the California and U.S. West whitewater rafting seasons are beginning to wind down, some O.A.R.S.’ office staff members have been able to get away to experience our trips.
Tyra, our California/Oregon Adventure Consultant, is just back from O.A.R.S.’
Chilko-Chilcotin-Fraser Rivers trip. The Class IV Canada whitewater apparently offered some of the biggest, baddest whitewater she has experienced. In addition, there were so many bear and Bald Eagle sightings they almost became old news. Tyra loved the region so much, she started looking into real estate. We’ll see if we can keep her interested in California rivers for at least a few more years.
